My father, Edward Jurgen Harris
(b 1911 - d 1991), was principally a painter, and he amazed us with his
relentless creative force.
All that he touched reflected his extraordinary artistry.
He conducted his life surely and gracefully and left a great legacy.
My mother, Jean Rae Harris, (b1926) is a writer (see link below). She sees the
beauty and mystery of the world, and describes it with rare originality,
humor, and optimism.
I, Marc Cabell Harris, (b 1950) am an artist. I try to paint with care and joy,
but also, I try to follow R.W. Emerson's advice and cast aside my vanity so
that the soul may be suitably represented.
My son Alexander Lewis Harris (b1983) is an artist. He has returned to
California after a long residency in Florence, Italy having been trained in
the tradition of the Florence Academy. He uses his remarkable skills and
vision to produce powerful original works.
